DR. JOHN GARHAMMER

Biomechanics and Physics

Dr. John Garhammer is currently a Professor Emeritus and former Director of the Biomechanics Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University, Long Beach. He received his Doctorate in Kinesiology from UCLA with specialization in Biomechanics and Exercise Physiology. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Certified Persona Trainer by the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), and was awarded Fellow stats in the American College of Sports Medicine in 1981. Dr. Garhammer served as Vice-President for Basic and Applied Research of the NSCA from 1989-1991. He is the author of the book, Sports Illustrated Strength Training, and has had over 90 articles and chapters on biomechanical and strength training topics published in textbooks and technical and popular journals.
